IN a bid to immortalise sports philanthropist and boxing enthusiast, the fam­ily of the Chief Francis Aiyegbeni has decided to put the boxing gym left behind by their dad under the care and management of Oyo State Amateur Boxing Association (OSABA).

The ultra modern box­ing gym that located within the premises of Walan Hotel Ring-Road, Ibadan according to the daughter of the late boxing promoter, Edna Aiyegbeni would be formally handed-over to boxing body during an event scheduled for Thursday July 21, 2016.

The United Kingdom based Edna Aiyegbeni ex­pressed the wiliness of the family in a brief chat with newsmen in Ibadan to keep the memory of their father alive, saying the best way to keep the uncanny love her dad had for the game of boxing alive is not to allow his boxing gym to rot away.

“My late dad contributed greatly to the development of boxing in Nigeria by picking boxers from the grassroots, nurturing and promoting them to win lau­rels for the nation at global level.
