Political Personlity Of The Year
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo, assumed office on January 27, 2024. Less than a month after that, his activities gave his people hope that tomorrow will be good.
Born on January 1, 1978, Ododo, upon completing his Higher National Diploma (HND) and his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with the Central Bank of Nigeria in Owerri, Imo State, got employed by the Power Holding Company of Nigeria Plc, Kontagora, where he worked at the Disbursement Department between 2005 and 2007. From there he rose to the position of Assistant Manager, Revenue and held the position from 2007 to 2014.
He joined the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) in 2014 and was there until 2016 when he was appointed by the immediate past Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, as Auditor General for Local Governments in the state. He served in that capacity diligently for over seven years before he was elected as the governor of Kogi State.
As governor, Ododo has shown political sagacity, gingering the people to be politically conscious and to contribute their quota to the development of the state. His prowess in grassroots mobilisation has its roots during his days as Auditor General for Local Governments in Kogi State. He worked with local government officials to for.ulste policies and implement measures that brought about financial transparency, accountability, and good governance.
He aims to deliver good governance that is impactful and equitable, with the view to ensuring that the standard of living for all citizens reaches new heights. He has adopted a strategic approach that tackles every facet of state’s economy, aiming for sustainable growth and development.
In rhe spirit of inclusiveness, Ododo carries stakeholders along, with a belief in a society where every individual, regardless of their abilities, feels valued and included. He is breaking down barriers and ensuring that people living with disabilities, the youth, women and others have equal opportunities to thrive and succeed.
