The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has launched fresh attacks on the former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, describing him as a phoney political prophet.

It was in reaction to Lamido’s recent prophecy that the ruling party would soon split resulting in Ganduja defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Responding in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment, Chief Oliver Okpala, Ganduja noted that Lamido had lost grip of the political realities on the ground across the country.

He maintained that Lamido spoke as someone who just arrived in the country from abroad without a complete brief on developments in the country’s orbit of partisan politics.

Chief Okpala wondered why in the imagination of Lamido he envisaged that the APC which has now become the most organised, peaceful and most sought after party in the country, particularly under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and Ganduje, would ever split.

“We urge the former Governor to look at the disjointed nature of the PDP now and take cognisance of the fact that all notable political leaders of the party have defected to the APC and the remaining few already have one of their legs in the ruling party.

“We advise Lamido to return to the path of political rectitude by joining the present move of his former prominent party members who are now in the APC before it is too late,” the statement read.

Okpala further described the national chairman of the APC as an outstanding political leader, who is ever ready to accept and accommodate members of the opposition that now see the APC as the only party with the solution to the economic and political problems of the country.

The Senior Special Assistant maintained that Lamido’s prediction fails to hold grounds as it is laced with pathetic fallacies lacking in authenticity and genuineness.

He wondered how a person who has held high political offices in the country like Lamido should make such insincere, hypocritical and pretentious predictions regarding politics.

“I advise Lamido to go pick up the religious cassock of men of God as a prophet if he is now tired of facing the current political realities which recognises the APC under President Tinubu and Ganduje as the only formidable political entity in Nigeria as of today.

“Nobody with a sound political base and recognition is now left in the PDP.  How, in the imagination of Lamido, can people defect from a great party to a now negligible and relegated opposition party in Nigeria; the moribund and deflated PDP.

“The outstanding performance of President Tinubu, who is working in consonance with APC manifesto is a great game changer. The political ship of the APC under the leadership of Ganduje is sailing peacefully and safely without any political hitch or turbulence. Lamido’s prediction is dead on arrival,” Okpala concluded.
