The Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has graciously approved the agelong reward of the plots of land promised victorious players and officials of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) 1998 set by the state government.

In a statement signed by the secretary of the then 3SC, Akin Maxwell, Governor Makinde has approved the release of the land with a review of the N1 million promised the players and officials by the then Military Administrator, Compol Amen Oyakhire.

Recall that 3SC won the Nigeria Premier League as well as the WAFU Cup, which is the only Continental Cup won for the country in 1998. Because of the great achievements, Oyo State Military Administrator then, Compol Oyakhire made a pronouncement of cash reward of N1 million and a plot of land for each of the players and officials.

And after 26 years of waiting, Governor Makinde put smiles on the faces of the entire team by approving the lands for which almost previous past governors could not achieve for the victorious squad of 1998 set.

“The players, officials and management of the club under the chairmanship of late Bode Oyewole re happy and grateful to Engr. Makinde who believes in hard work, excellence, commitment, and dedication, especially for those that serve Oyo State meritoriously, Maxwell said in a release.

He added, Engr Makinde’s government, being a government that redresses injustices or act of omission by his predecessors, is definitely a government that has the fear of God and human feelings for the governed who suffered from Injustices or omission.”
