Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke commissioned three fire trucks donated to the Osun State Fire Service in Osogbo, bringing the total to seven trucks and one water tanker procured under his administration.
Speaking at the event on Wednesday, Adeleke reiterated his commitment to providing at least one fire truck to each of the nine federal constituencies and the fire service headquarters.
“When I assumed office, I was deeply concerned by the bad state of our fire service facilities. The last procurement of fire trucks had occurred over fourteen years ago,” he said.
Adeleke highlighted the acquisition of protective gear, training for fire officers, and plans to procure additional trucks to ensure equitable emergency response coverage. “These assets will greatly improve the responsiveness and efficiency of our fire service, giving our citizens peace of mind,” he added.
Commissioner for Home Affairs Abdurosheed Aderibigbe noted that the service had relied on old tenders from the former Oyo State, with the only prior procurement under Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola’s administration, while Rauf Aregbesola’s government limited interventions to repairs.
