Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appointed his Special Adviser on Legal Matters, Hashim Abioye, as chairman of the state Independent Electoral Commission.

The spokesperson to Governor Adeleke, Olawale Rasheed, stated that Abioye has been screened and confirmed with other statutory commissions appointed and sent to the House of Assembly for ratification.

Abioye, until his appointment was serving as Special Adviser on Legal Matters and he was a member of the state executive as announced by the governor during the swearing-in on July 26.

The new OSIEC chairman had contested for House of Assembly under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Another statement by the press secretary to the speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon Adewale Egbedun, Olamide Tiamiyu, stated that chairmen and members of the state judicial service commission, civil service commission, House of Assembly commission, were also confirmed.
