The Abia State Police Command, yesterday, paraded a suspected political thug arrested with a gun at the premises of Umunneochi Local Government headquarters during the  council’s polls on Wednesday.

The suspect, whose name was given as  Emeka Obi  was picked up by security agents  when a gun was found on him while the election was ongoing.

The Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade who paraded the suspect at the Police headquarters, Umuahia said Obi  was arrested with a fabricated pistol with  three rounds of  9mm live ammunition and  wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp.

Oyebade said Obi, 31, who  hails from Umuogele Amuda Isuochi, was helping the police in their  investigations.

He also told newsmen that Obi would be arraigned in court when investigation into the matter was concluded.

Questions thrown to the suspect as to his activities or the party he belongs to  were rebuffed.
