Abia State Government has lauded a group, Ezumezu Ndigbo Ordained Royal Heritage for its efforts in promoting Igbo culture and unity.
Abia State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu gave the commendation while recieving the members of the group, who paid him a courtesy call in his office in Umuahia.
The Commissioner who praised the group for striving to bring the Igbo together, described Igbo land as a place blessed with human and natural resources.
Kanu used the occasion to inform them about some achievements of Governor Alex Otti in Abia.
The Ezumezu Ndigbo Ordained Royal Heritage has earlier in a communique said they embarked on tour of Abia and other Igbo speaking States, including Delta and Rivers States, in its crusade of revitalizing and re-establishing the Igbo cultural heritage
In the 8-point communique endorsed by their leaders, including Chief (Mrs) Chika Ibeneme, Ikem Okoye Dike among others after interacting with Journalists at Ojukwu Bunker, Umuahia, the group said the Igbo should return to their guiding principles of life, in order to reclaim their revered place.
The group which regretted that Ndigbo are no longer speaking with one voice, lamented that many Igbo especially youths have deviated from the Igbo spirit and engaged in anti social activities.
While calling on Igbo to love themselves, the Ezumezu Ndigbo Ordained Royal Heritage pledged to partner Abia State government to make Ndigbo rediscover themselves socio-culturally.
The communique said those Igbo born from 1970 would form part of the arrow head of the Igbo renaissance .
