Abia state governorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP) for the 2023 gubernatorial election, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, has kick-started what he called a verification tour across the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state to ascertain the voting strength of his party for the upcoming election.
A statement from Kalu’s campaign team indicated that Chief Mascot, in conjunction with his running mate, Prof. Osondu Akoma, and his entourage, began the tour at Umurakpa Community of Osisioma Ngwa LGA on Wednesday.
Chairman of the Party in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Charles Nwogu, on behalf of the party’s faithful, members of the Reality Organization and indigenes of the LGA welcomed Chief Mascot, to the local government.
He described Kalu as a young man with the tenacity and technical-know-how to solve the enormous challenges confronting Abia state, and therefore, assured him of the readiness of the people of Osisioma Ngwa to support his political ambition.
Speaking at the event, Chief Mascot Kalu said his tour is not to campaign but to ascertain if truly APP is on ground in Osisioma Ngwa as he has been told and to take cognizance of the needs of the people of the LGA.
He said: “One thing that is obviously is that Osisioma Ngwa lack good accessible roads. I promised to take action that will result in the reconstruction of the roads if elected into office.”
He further gave an insight into his manifesto which include but not limited to construction of at least 10 to 15Km of new roads in each local government, restoration of free Primary and Secondary education, revitalization of moribund industries for job creation, regular payment of workers’ salaries on the 26th of every month, and many more.
