The All Progressives Congress (APC), Abia chapter, has rejected result of the February 23 presidential election in the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had, yesterday, declared 219, 698 and 85, 058 votes for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC.
Stressing that the election result was falsified, the APC scribe in Abia State, Perfect Okorie, pointed out that the total votes cast in Aba North and Aba South local government areas was 8,100 as against over 103,000 votes declared.
While urging INEC and other stakeholders to investigate the inflated figures from the two local government areas, Okorie emphasised that the inflated result in Aba North and Aba South local government areas negatively affected the votes declared in favour of the APC.
Addressing a press conference yesterday, the APC secretary, maintained that the PDP scored 116,698 votes as against 219, 698 declared by the INEC, adding that the APC is waxing stronger in Abia State.
“The result of the presidential election in Abia State was manipulated in favour of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the PDP.
“We strongly condemn and reject the figures declared by the INEC.
“The genuine result is 116,698 and 85, 058 votes for the PDP and the APC respectively.
“The APC candidate for House of Representatives In Aba North and Aba South federal constituencies, Mascot Kalu won the race, but the result was falsified.
“We urge relevant stakeholders to correct the anomalies for the sake of Nigeria’s democracy.”
The APC scribe commended Abians for voting en-masse for President Buhari and other APC candidates across the country.
