From Chuks Onuoha, Umuahia

OVER 500 aggrieved Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members from Imenyi Ward 1, Isuikwuato Local Government Council, Abia State, who left the party after primaries have returned with the intention of building a strong and virile party.

Leader of the group of returnees and former chairman of Isuikwuato Local Government Council, Chief Enyinnaya Nwosu, who announced the return of the members said they merely stepped aside when they felt things were not going the right way.

He said he and some other members of the party were offended at the way things were going and left, “but today, we have returned because PDP is one family, you don’t just build a house and allow it to be destroyed.

“I have committed so much in PDP, a lot of people have been coming, men of good will, pleading that I should come back and having realised my contributions to the party over the years, I personally felt I should come back. I cannot afford to allow our efforts over the years go down the drain. The plea is that I should come back and help to stabilise the party at the ward and local government levels,” Nwosu said.

He added that he had made political investments in PDP and intended to continue to take the party to greater heights.

“I have a lot of good will, so whatever effort I will put in to make the party grow, I will continue doing it. I am known for organising the party members from the ward to local government levels to ensure that we speak with one voice.”

He explained that what was happening in the party was an intra party squabble that was expected from a large party like the PDP and that there was no time problems would not spring up.

He said his coming back entailed the returning of over 500 of his followers as and advised all aggrieved members to follow suit.

“Quarrel is normal. It is something you expect from a big family, so, I will urge others, particularly leaders, to come back with their supporters for us to build a strong and virile party which PDP represents.

“Politics cannot play itself, it is people that will play politics and it is when the right people are in politics that the dividends of democracy will go round,” he said.

Receiving Nwosu back to the party, the ward Chairman, Chief Onyekachi Okorie Ezeikpe expressed happiness over the return of the members. He extolled the virtues of Nwosu as a committed party man.
