The abductors of Mr. Monday Aighobhahi, Director General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Ovia Federal Constituency of Edo State, have demanded a ransom of N200 million for his release.

The APC Reps candidate, Mr. Dennis Idahosa, who alleged political motive in his DG’s abduction, told journalists in Benin City that the kidnappers contacted him directly barely two hours after the abduction.

“Yes, they called around 9 pm last night and again called early this morning insisting on payment of N200m before they would release Aighobhahi.

“I am quite aware of the sinister motive of the people behind this but they have failed; the determination to liberate Ovia is not all about Idahosa, it is the resolve of the people and they cannot kill the will of the people,” he said.

Aighobahi was reportedly abducted along Benin-Ore highway on Tuesday, shortly after campaigning at Ofosu, Ovia South Local Government Area of the state.

Aighobhahi, a former Ovia South West Local Government council boss, was abducted with Mr Mike Ogiamen, the ward leader of Ugbogui, said to be a political stronghold of Aighobhahi.
