Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Gani Adams, has said that his position has been a strong motivation for his commitment to the unity and progress of the Yoruba race.

During the celebration of the sixth anniversary of the position in Lagos, Adams said that the position of the Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land is rooted in a history and that the celebration is key to the progress of the stool. He restated his belief in the strength of the Yoruba, saying history has provided a prestigious place for the race to take its pride of place among all races.

Adams maintained that the stool has a huge task of seeking peace, adding that restructuring remains the panacea for effective security in Nigeria, even as he pointed out that the appointment of the Aare -in- Council is to reposition the office of the Aare Onakakanfo for greater responsibility.

“I will always protect the interest of Yoruba race because that is the first and fundamental duty of the Yoruba generallissimo. What we are doing here today is not a jamboree, but a reflection of the sanctity and importance of the stool. It is not because we like partying but because it is the tradition of the position.

Adams expressed gratitude to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, for sending a powerful delegation from Ife to the event, even as he applauded the Obas that graced the occasion. The event, had in attendance over 100 traditional rulers across the southwest.
