The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Action Alliance (AA) has praised the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal. It dismissed a petition against Governor Monday Okpebholo’s election by some party members in Edo State.

The NWC shared this in a statement by National Chairman Kenneth Udeze. He congratulated the Edo governor on his tribunal win. Udeze clarified that neither the AA nor its candidate in the last Edo election filed any petition against Okpebholo’s victory.

He explained that the petitioner was unknown to the AA. This person could not have acted for the party. Udeze said, “At no time did Action Alliance or its Governorship candidate in Edo State file any petition challenging the outcome of the election. The party is really taken aback by the report in the media.”

He noted that the tribunal’s ruling proves the judiciary’s strength. It shows, “the judiciary remains the true conscience of the society and does not tolerate frivolity in the name of politics.”

Udeze also praised Yakubu Mahmoud, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He said the verdict is “a clear testament of improvement in the electoral process and a vindication of Prof. Mahmoud as an unbiased umpire.”
