From Paul Osuyi, Asaba

The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) on Monday lashed out at political actors for creating what it termed political department propaganda.

YOWICAN urged Nigerian youths in general not to allow themselves into the propaganda department of any political office seeker.

It specifically warned Christian youths who have been appointed into Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter or Instagram departments as propaganda machines to desist from campaigns of calumny on the spread fake news, hate speech, forgery, bribery and corruption, to further compound the problems in Nigeria.

National Chairman Belusochukwu Enwere handed the warning in Asaba during a meeting with Delta State executives and coordinators of the group.

Enwere maintained that YOWICAN will not lose focus from now to 2023 in its pursuit to rescue Nigeria from its current economic and security quagmire by supporting any contender with bold ideas of national interest.

Supported by his Delta State chairman, Pastor Enviro Jeffrey Ogheneovo, and coordinators of the association across the 25 council areas of the state, he said everything would be done to prevent Christian youths from being dissuaded and recruited to score a cheap victory by politicians next year.

The national chairman who decried the ‘used and dump’ syndrome by politicians after elections, maintained that never would the youths allow their future to be mortgaged.

“We will not carry guns to achieve this in 2023. We will not apply weapons. We will not involve thuggery to achieve the project of global peacebuilding but through the power of PVCs, the process of elimination to excel through Emmanuel, we would have said no to never political department of propaganda or allow a political system that will further destroy our future to come to power,” he said.

He charged Christian youths to participate actively in the forthcoming elections but with their eyes fully opened if good governance must be enthroned.

On the controversial Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Enwere said conscience for good policy manifesto should be the guiding principle in the voting pattern of Christians.
