After six years of protracted legal battle, the National Industrial Court, sitting in Abuja has nullified the unlawful sack of AIG Mbu Joseph Mbu, who was retired before the due time in a manner that he considered.

Delivering judgement in Suit No NICN/ABJ/198/2017 Between AIG Mbu Joseph Mbu  -vs- Police Service Commission (PSC), instituted by the Mbu, in which he sought reliefs for his unlawful sack from service by the commission, the presiding Judge, Justice O.A. Obaseki-Osaghae, declared that the sack of Mbu was illegal, null and void.

The court awarded the sum of N40 million as damages against the Police Service Commission (PSC).

It also ordered that the PSC to pay him all his outstanding salaries and advances between the time of the illegal dismissal of July 8, 2016 to August 10, 2018, when he attained his statutory retirement by virtue of his age.

The judge while delivering the judgement, the judge ordered that the sum of N750,000 be paid to the claimant as cost of the suit.

The Judge further declared that failure of the defendant to comply with the orders of the court within 30 days would attract 10 per cent per annum.
