The stage is set for the 60th anniversary of Nigeria’s most prestigious beauty pageant, Miss Nigeria, which comes up later in the year. This was revealed during a press parley at Daily Times Corporate Headquarters in Lagos on Tuesday.
Speaking, Executive Director, Miss Nigeria, Dr. May Ikeora, said: “We are proud to inform you that all is set for the hosting of the 60th anniversary of Miss Nigeria. In 1957, Miss Nigeria was founded to promote peace and unity in Nigeria. As Miss Nigeria celebrates 60 years, it introduces a more structured pageant that will restore the glory of pageantry in Nigeria. The pageant this year will wow its audience promoting beauty and brains.”
Ikeora added that from the very first pageant in 1957, Miss Nigeria has always represented noble ideals: a combination of beauty, grace and intelligence, and today, Miss Nigeria pageant has evolved to become a more structured organisation. And she will continue to be a shinning beacon of true Nigerian womanhood by representing her country on international platforms as a goodwill ambassador.
Meanwhile, entries are now open. Interested participants can visit www.missnigeria.ng to fill and submit their forms after paying for their forms at the nearest Heritage Bank.
“We are looking for a Nigerian girl who represents true beauty and brains. We will announce our sponsors and partnerx as we get along,” Ikeora adds.
To make sure this year’s edition is a resounding success, a seasoned production expert, Edi Lawani will produce the show and he promises that it would be a world class.
“We thank partners like Studio24, Heritage Bank, Shell, Ecobank and the media for their continuous support which we know will extend to this 60th anniversary,” Ikeora concludes.
