Nnewi United, the new Nigeria National League club owned by Chief Gabriel Chukwuma, a former Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association,  will be officially unveiled next week.

They will play host to Gateway United of Abeokuta in the opening match of the NNL  2016/2017 season on March 17.

The club, it was gathered now trains at Rojenny Tourist and Games Village, Oba, near Onitsha, where they are slated to host their home games in the Nigeria NNL.

Speaking against the backdrop of the unveiling, Tony Okafor, Vice chairman of the management committee, did not give specific date for the unveiling ceremony but said the date would be decided at a management meeting with Olisa Onuchukwu, the Managing Director of the club.

Coach Godwin Nosike,  former Enugu Rangers assistant coach who most recently was part of Warri Wolves technical crew, has been hired as the Technical Adviser of the club. Nosike revealed that they have selected 30 players for the season after a two-week rigorous screening exercise.

He was however evasive and went philosophical when proped to speak on the team’s promotion chances. “I did not come here on my own volition. I believe the God who made it possible has a purpose and it is my conviction that the same God will take us to the promised land.”

Chief Gabriel Chukwuma, who bought over  the NNL position of Dreams International FC Makurdi owned by Dominic Iorfa,  is the President of Nnewi United FC.
