Sola Ojo, Kaduna
It has emerged that yet-to-be- ascertained number of persons believed to be staff of the judiciary have been kidnapped along Kaduna-Abuja highway earlier today.
A few years back, the road was known for nefarious activities of bandits which made many people use alternative rail transport. This, however, stopped after a massive deployment of policemen to the area by the former IGP, Yusuf Idris, until lately when the criminals resumed their onslaught on motorists along the road.
Confirming the development, police spokesman for Kaduna State command, DSP Yakubu Sabo, said a Toyota Hilux van was recovered with a bank cheque and a lady’s shoes at a village, Gidan Busa, about 40 kilometres from Kaduna the state capital.
According to him, “we recorded a case this morning. A Toyota Hilux van was recovered at Gidan Busa along Abuja road. We saw a bank cheque on the driver’s side and a lady’s shoes.
“We are yet to ascertain the number of occupants of the vehicle at the time.
“But, we have our men already working on this with the support of the IGP’s anti- kidnapping squad.
“Let me also use this opportunity to debunk the fake news going around for three days now that 30 persons were kidnapped on that road. It is fake news it not true,” he added.
However, it was not clear whether the vehicle belongs to the Kaduna State judiciary or that of another state of Federal governments as details were still sketchy as the time of filing this report.
