Three suspected kidnappers were reportedly arrested in Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area, Anambra State by the community vigilance group.

The suspected kidnappers were arrested when they stormed No.65, Nwokedi Street and kidnapped a man simply identified as Chikodili.

It was gathered that as they were whisking him away to a nearby bush from where he would be taken to an unknown destination, his wife started shouting at the top of her voice pleading with them to release the husband.

But on a tip-off the Okpoko community vigilance group led by Mr Okpala Victor, stormed the bush, freed the victim and arrested the suspects.

“The kidnappers thought they could beat us to it; they stormed No 65, Nwokedi Sreet and kidnapped this man may be for a big ransom and on a tip-off we pursued them and arrested them in the bush where they took the man to and may be from there to another place to avoid arrest.

“We  have freed the victim and taken the suspects to Okpoko police station. The police told us they would be charged to court immediately,” Okpala stated.

The President-General of the community, Chief Edwin Emesinwa said that Okpoko has the best security outfit in the state and commended them for the feat adding that “since my assumption of office about a year now, the community sleeps with two eyes closed.”
