A pro-Buhari advocacy group, the South East Mobilisation Movement for APC has called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to zone the position of the Senate President in the Ninth National Assembly to the Southeast.
National Secretary and spokesperson of the group, Noble Agbaeze, told Daily Sun they hope that the commitment, hardwork and loyalty of members of the party from the South Eeast who strongly believe in President Buhari and the APC and worked tirelessly for APC’s success will not be in vain.
While maintaining that all geopolitical regions should be treated equally in the APC family, Agbeze noted that the South East, going by the geometric increase of votes cast for APC in the zone in 2019, it was clear some politicians made it happen.
Agbaeze argued that the APC arrangement has not changed from what it was fashioned to be, during the formation of the APC government in 2015 and said it was expedient that the senate president position should go to the SouthEast now the zone has some APC senators-elect.
He seized the occasion to call on former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu to contest for the position.
“I wish to sincerely and most respectfully call on the former governor of Abia state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu who immeasurably contributed in changing the narrative of APC into that of fortune in Abia state and the entire South East to present himself for the position of the senate president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“I am urging to do this because he is eminently qualified for this position; he is a ranking Senator going by the Provision of Rule 3 Order (2) of the Extant Senate Standing Orders, because he has been at the House of Representatives”.
Agbaeze also thanked the people of the South East and other Nigerians who exhibited confidence in president Buhari and the APC, through the massive votes cast for the party in the general election.
He assured of better days ahead for the country, during the second tenure of the APC-led federal government and urged Nigerians to give government the necessary support.
