The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Kebbi State, has extended the service years of seven corps members to four months for violation of the scheme’s rules.
The state coordinator of the scheme in the state, Mr Barde Usman, confirmed their extension on Thursday in Birinin Kebbi at the passing-out ceremony of the 2018 batch A-Corps members held in the state.
He said: ” Six males and one female corps members are to repeat the service between two and four months while four males and two females corps members absconded and their next of kins have been contacted,” he said.
He said that discharge certificates were issues to 1,383 corps of which 798 were male while 585 were female corps members who successfully concluded their service in the state.
The coordinator congratulated the outgoing corps members while charging them to be good ambassadors of the country whenever they might find themselves.
He said the skills acquisition and vocational training they received during their orientation were enough to make them excel in the labour market. ”Don’t allow anybody to take advantage of your desperation in legal immigration to out of the country.’
He said: “Try to be good ambassadors of this country and your family; try to ensure that you are moving with people of good character and don’t join the bad company.
”Ensure that you don’t engage in any criminal activities because that is dangerous and risky. All the vocational training you were exposed to during your orientation are enough to make you excel without wandering in a labour market which is already saturated,” he said.
