The Taraba State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has decried plans by enemies of the state to disrupt the governorship and state House of Assembly elections in the state.

Innocent Solomon, the Taraba State CAN Chairman who made this allegation Monday at a press briefing at CAN secretariat Jalingo, said the alleged plan was hatched by a group during a meeting held on Friday night in Jalingo was in two phases.

According to him, the first phase of the plan was to be executed in three areas where Christians are predominant in the state capital, while the second face is to be executed at INEC office on Monday, March 11, 2019, at 5 pm, when the collation of results would be going on.

Solomon said that “the attention of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has been drawn to a plan by some of the enemies of our state in relation to the forthcoming governorship and state assembly elections in the state. The plan was hatched by the group during a meeting held on Friday night 1/3/2019 in Jalingo.

“At the meeting, a document was produced for execution. The document is titled: “The plan of Taraba State governorship and state assembly elections on 9th in Jalingo.”

“This is to be executed in the three mapped areas where Christians are predominant in the state capital. This will take place on 7th March by three pm. The areas are PDP Secretariat, Roadblock and Nukkai. Ten youths with dangerous arms and 20 liters of petrol would be stationed in strategic areas to carry on the mayhem.

“The second phase is to be executed at INEC office on Monday 11th March by 5 pm when the collation of the results is going on.”

This plan Solomon alleged, would enjoy the cover of the newly-posted commissioner of police in the state.”The police boss will instruct his officers and men of the command to remain aloof or adamant in the face of the ugly event.”

He called on all political actors to allow indigenes and residents of the state to freely choose their leaders without intimidation and coercion.
