A Senior Special Assistant to Edo State Governor, Hon. Wellington Osadolor has said that despite the political crisis created by the disbanded Edo People Movement (EPM) to heat up the airways in the state, Edo people are overwhelmingly happy with Governor Godwin Obaseki.

He said the governor is not distracted by the activities of the group, rather, he is focused on transforming the economy as well as turn around the infrastructure of the state.

Osadolor, avowed the crises were meant to distract the administration from performing so as to create a basis to replace the incumbent. “But the governor is not deterred,” he insisted, “he keeps working to the admiration of Edo people.

Speaking with our correspondent in Benin City, Osadolor said: “The issue in Edo is between good and evil, between good governance and scavengers-cum-stomach infrastructure seekers, and above all, between God and godfather. But notwithstanding all the flak thrown at him, the governor is working for the people and the people are solidly with him.”

He went on to list some of the projects, completed and ongoing, by the government of Governor Godwin Obaseki. The list included Edo Job Initiative, Edo Innovation Hub, Edo Best Educational Reform, the New Central Hospital, Edo Production Centre, and the revamped Government Science and Technical College.

Osadolor also pointed out that over 10,000 teachers have been trained under the Edo-BEST scheme and that a new template has been evolved for revenue collection, which has put an end to the hitherto chaotic and unaccountable system of using touts to collect revenues for the Edo State Government.

Other achievements he listed included the sustained fight against human trafficking and the construction of one of the longest roads in the state, the Irhirhi-Aruogba–Egbiri–Obazagbon Oke oroma–Ogheghe Road through to Sapele road bye-pass and Ekenwan road.

Governor Obaseki should also be commended for reducing the cost of obtaining a certificate of occupancy to N50, 000 and for eradicating Community Development Association that had hitherto been a stumbling block to land developers in the state, Osadolor further claimed.

“With the developments on ground, Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki deserves second term,” Osadolor insisted.
