From Bamigbola Gbolagunte, Akure

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Leye Akinola has said the inability of Governor Olusegun Mimiko to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people will make the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not to win the forthcoming governorship election.
Akinola, also a APC governorship aspirant, said the administration of Governor Mimiko failed to provide basic infrastructures for people at the grassroots. The APC leader, who spoke with newsmen at his hometown, Ala in Akure North Local Government Area after declaring his intention to contest the governorship election, said the APC was prepared to take over the state from the PDP.
He said his desire to contest was to bring about development of the state through execution of people-oriented programmes.
Akinola, who frowned at the low pace of development in his community, said the resources in the state were enough to develop the state.
“APC is the only alternative for the people of Ondo State. Our people are tired of the PDP and they are s behind us, because they know what the APC stands for and they have confidence in us,” he said.
Akinola said the increasing number of aspirants in the APC was a proof that the party was strong, adding: “If the election is conducted next week, we are sure of victory.”
