Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has attributed his achievements in two years to divine intervention.
He made this known over the weekend at the Calabar International Convention Centre during the 6th edition of the State’s Solemn Assembly with the theme: “The Lord reigns.”
The governor also disclosed that the state is on the rise and appealed for unity as nobody can stop the state’s progress.
“I have seen what we have achieved in two years, not by man, but totally divine intervention. What we want in the state is unity, and the Cross River State will never remain the same.
“We are on a pedestal like never before. The life of every nation is to rise and fall. Cross River State was once there, we came down, but the Almighty God who says he reigns has said it is time for us to rise, and nobody can stop it!”
His wife, Bishop Eyoanwan, lent her voice to the theme of the event. She said the event was to remind Cross River people of the unchanging truth about God’s supremacy in the affairs of humans. “The world is facing difficult and uncertain seasons. Economic pressure, insecurity, unrest, immorality and natural disasters are everywhere.
“In the midst of these, we are here to remind ourselves of the powerful and unchanging truth that God reigns supreme.”
The governor’s wife who read the opening lesson stated that as God’s children, humans should be hopeful regardless of the realities in the society.
Chairman of the Planning Committee for the event, Rev. Fr. Bob Etta thanked the Governor, his wife, and his Deputy for enthroning Jesus Christ as the Governor of the state.
The event was marked with song renditions, several bible readings, intercessory prayers, and the word.
The event featured song renditions, bible readings, prayers, distribution of bibles and sermons. It was attended by traditional rulers, political leaders, clerics, opinion leaders among others.
