Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has disclosed that the state government has so far approved 16 out of over 380 businesses that have applied to commence operations at the state’s Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park, located in the Dadin Kowa community of Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area.
The governor stated this on Tuesday during the commissioning of the first ultra-modern seed processing plant at the park. The facility was established by Premier Seed Nigeria Limited in partnership with Propcom+, a United Kingdom-funded initiative supporting climate-smart agriculture in Nigeria.
Governor Yahaya emphasized that the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park is a cornerstone of his administration’s economic development strategy, designed to stimulate industrialization, attract investment, and generate employment opportunities and growth in the state.
“So far we have received over 380 applications from businesses interested in operating in the industrial park, 16 companies that went through the process of screening and pre-qualification have already gotten allocation of land spaces and have started the process of their operations,” the governor said.
According to the governor, the firms that have gotten operational approval include, Sonia Foods, who are into tomatoes processing, DOMAGRIC, who are into logistics, Justicia Consulting and Three Ace Technologies among others. He explained that the companies have already taken possession of thier sites and will soon begin operations. He said, “Let me assure you that our administration will continue to provide all necessary support to ensure your operation strive and you expand”.
“To all potential investors, both within Nigeria and internationally, I extend a warm invitation: Gombe State is open for business. We offer a peaceful environment, robust infrastructure, skilled workforce, transparent policies, and access to regional and international markets,” Governor Yahaya assured.
While describing the commissioning of Premier Seed Nigeria Limited’s plant as a milestone that reflects the park’s potential to transform Gombe into an industrial hub in the Northeast region, the governor said, “As we commission this factory today, we are not merely opening a building, we are unlocking new possibilities for job creation, wealth generation, and economic transformation. This event marks the beginning of operations at the Industrial Park, and I’m glad that Premier Seeds is leading the way.
“Let me commend the management of Premier Seeds for making this bold step, your decision to invest in Gombe demonstrates your remarkable vision and confidence in our state, as the first company to establish operations in this industrial park you are setting precedent, we believe many will follow,” he added.
