The Foluso Omosebi Care Foundation has called on government and key stakeholders to place greater focus on the welfare of the less privileged in society, emphasising that such efforts would promote equity and boost self-confidence among vulnerable populations.
Speaking at the official launch of the foundation recently, the founder, Mrs. Foluso Omosebi, stressed the importance of collective responsibility in uplifting underprivileged communities.
The event marked the formal unveiling of the initiative which had quietly commenced operations two years ago.
“We started this journey in 2023 and I am proud of the progress we’ve made in touching lives, even with limited resources. Philanthropy should be a culture, and I encourage the government to do more in complementing our efforts. Many less privileged individuals have unique talents but are denied opportunities due to neglect,” Omosebi said.
She added that plans were underway to expand the foundation’s reach across the country, with a new branch set to open in Ibadan in the coming days.
“We won’t stop here. As more testimonies emerge from our beneficiaries, we are inspired to do more,” she stated.
Also speaking at the event, Araba of Ojokoro Kingdom in Lagos, Chief Ifawemimo Ajanaku, praised the foundation’s founder for her kind gesture, which he believes would help rescue many from hardship.
“This initiative is a great one capable of easing the less privileged from hardship the country is currently experiencing. I will urge all to emulate this in order for us to have a better society. The government is trying but we all know it can’t do it all. I will also volunteer myself to serve whenever the foundation calls for my attention,” he assured.
In a similar vein, chairman of the day, Pastor John Adeyemi, Dr. Aderemi Awode and other top dignitaries all donated to uplift the foundation.
