Kaduna-based Christian congregation led by Yohanna Buru, joined their Muslim counterparts at the Eid-el-Kabir praying ground at the Murtala Mohammed Square. The occasion brought together religious and community leaders. It was graced by Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe and former governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero.

The mission of the Christian guests was to deliver a message of peace, love and religious tolerance. Buru, a devotee of interfaith dialogue, underlined the growing tradition of mutual respect and cooperation between faithful of the two major religions.

He congratulated the Muslim community and their leaders on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, extending very warm greetings to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and Sheikh Ahmad Gumi: “This gathering offers vital opportunities for understanding and reconciliation. We must remember that we are all one family under God. Whether Christian or Muslim, we worship the same Creator.

“Both the Qur’an and the Bible teach peace. We are all descendants of Adam and Eve. Together, we can overcome our divisions and create a country where everyone feels safe, respected and valued.”

He urged Nigerians, regardless of their backgrounds or faiths, to prioritise peace, love, and unity in building a stronger and a more prosperous nation.

George John, another cleric: “We came from different churches to stand in solidarity with our Muslim brothers. We are praying for lasting peace and stability. We are one family under God.”

Sunusi Surajo, a member of the Eid-el-Kabir prayer ground’s organising committee said: “We pray that this spirit of peace will extend to the 36 states of Nigeria. We want to commend the presence of our visitors at this year’s Eid-el Kabir celebrations in Kaduna.”

During the last Muslim festival, Buru alongside his team, broke the Ramadan fast with the Muslim community at the Masallacin Yan Doya Central Mosque, Kaduna.
