Abraham Lincoln American Academy (ALAA) yesterday held its graduation ceremony to celebrate its Class of 2025, comprising pre-KG and kindergarten students, fondly known as the “Lincolnian Class of 25.”

The event, which took place at the school’s Victoria Island premises, was marked by an atmosphere of excitement and pride.

Founded by Nigerian-American Emmanuela Imasuagbon alongside her American partners, ALAA is a prestigious institution offering an American curriculum in Nigeria for children aged between one and 10 years.

The school prides itself on early foundation, rapid growth, academic excellence, and commitment to nurturing future leaders and thinkers.

In her opening remarks, Mrs Jessica McAllister, head of the Abuja Campus, quoted former U.S. President, Barack Obama emphasizing the value of education as “the most important investment we can make in our future.”

Mrs McAllister highlighted ALAA’s mission to equip students not only academically, but also as leaders, reinforcing the school’s dedication to quality education.

She also explained the school’s curriculum, which integrates compulsory Nigerian subjects with an American-style teaching approach, meeting the demands of Nigerian parents who desire American education for their children without sacrificing local content.

The President of ALAA Lagos, Emmanuela Imasuagbon, expressed confidence in the school’s progressive approach, describing the learning environment as fun, engaging, and personalized.

She stressed the importance of orientation and cultural awareness, given the diverse backgrounds of the student body, which includes children of American, Nigerian, Turkish, and British descents.

The Managing Director of Ejovi Dredging and Marine Services, Chief Oghenegaren Ejovi,  who was the guest speaker at the event, encouraged the graduates to draw inspiration from Abraham Lincoln’s perseverance, urging them to remain diligent and never give up despite challenges.

The ceremony featured various presentations by the young graduates, who also received awards in recognition of their achievements. The highlight of the event was when over 20 children from the graduating class confidently declared their future ambitions to the delight of their families.

Four-year-old Adriana George-Okoh was awarded the overall best pupil, bringing great joy to her parents.

The graduation marked a milestone for the Lincolnian Class of 2025 and underscored ALAA’s commitment to fostering excellence through its American-based curriculum in Nigeria.
