The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is set to deliver the prestigious Distinguished Personality Lecture at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike will address the audience on the theme ‘Nigeria of our dreams’ at the event scheduled to take place at Oduduwa Hall on the OAU campus. The invitation to the minister was officially extended in a letter dated April 14, 2025, signed by Mr K. A. Bakare, the OAU Registrar and Secretary to Council.
In the letter, the university highlighted the significance of the lecture as a platform to engage accomplished leaders and eminent personalities whose contributions to public service and national development are widely recognised and valued.
The Council and Management of OAU unanimously chose Minister Wike in recognition of his distinguished career marked by good administration, governance, infrastructural development, and steadfast commitment to the rule of law.
The statement emphasised that the lecture aims to inspire renewed purpose and excellence in university governance, with Wike’s insights expected to contribute significantly to this goal.
The event promises to be a highlight in OAU’s academic calendar, bringing together students, faculty, and dignitaries to engage with one of Nigeria’s leading public figures on the future vision for the nation.
