The Coalition of Fulani Registered Organizations in Bokkos Local Government Area and their counterparts, Bokkos Cultural Development Council Vanguard are pointing accusing fingers at over the resurgence of Killings in the local council.
The Mushere youths had accused the Fulani of orchestrating the killings and arson in Bokkos, especially the recent kidnap of a pastor in the area.
In their reaction to the allegations by Mushere youths, the Fulani, in a statement signed by Alhaji Sale Yusuf Adam, and For and Alh Saidu Dodo, chairman and secretary respectively on behalf of Coalition of Fulani Registered Organizations, Bokkos LGA, said that the statement by BCDC contained several misleading assertions and misrepresentations that must be corrected in the interest of truth and peaceful coexistence.
While regretting the alleged Kidnap of the Pastor, the Fulani denied involvement in the act.
The statement said, “The tragic incident involving the kidnapped pastor is deeply regrettable and condemnable by all standards.
“However, attributing the act to the Fulani without evidence or investigation echoes a dangerous trend of scapegoating. It is important to recall that in a similar case some years ago involving the late father of Hon. Joshua Chibi Dariye, initial blame was placed on the Fulani, only for later investigations to reveal the involvement of seven Mushere individuals close to the family alongside just one Fulani accomplice.
“Such precedent reminds us that premature ethnic conclusions only fuel division and chaos.
The Fulani youths chronicled what they had suffered in the hands of Mwaghavul youths to include, destruction of Fulani Properties and killings of herders and their cattle.
“The Bokkos statement conveniently omits the violent reprisals and ethnic targeting that have befallen Fulani communities in recent days.
“We want to state categorically for clarity the atrocities on Fulani community in recent pass without any provocation by the Ron and Mushere people as follows:
On May 26, 2025, over 50 Fulani homes were burnt by Mushere youths and women under the pretext of retaliating the pastor’s death—without proof of Fulani involvement.
On May 27, the attacks continued across Fulani settlements until the intervention of OPSH Sector 5, which prevented what could have become a full-scale pogrom.
“That same day, three Fulani individuals were killed after being dragged out of a vehicle at a roadblock in mushere central. One of the deceased (Abacha Ngulot) was a Mushere man married to a Fulani woman. The body of one victim (Jibrin Yusuf) remains in the hands of the assailants, while the third victim (Abubakar Bako) has since been buried.
“We appeal for the return of the missing corpse of Jibrin Yusuf who was reported to have been slaughtered by the mushere youths to the family for proper burial.
“Four Fulani women (Halima Shuaibu, Ikilima Hassan, Zainab Shuaibu and Hasiya Hassan) were grievously injured and are currently receiving medical treatment in Bokkos.
“On May 29, over 20 more Fulani houses were torched in Kopmur. Were it not for military intervention, the destruction would have escalated further.
“On May 30, three Fulani herders were killed in Pankab village namely: Musa Mobale, Rabiu Mobale and Yakubu Sani.
“As recently as June 1, Fulani homes were once again set ablaze in Nbor village before security forces repelled the attackers.
Earlier on the 19th May, 2025, Umar Said and Rashida Yakubu were ambushed, attacked and killed at Tahore while returning from Maikatako Market.
“On the 24th May, 2025, Umar Farul Tsalha was killed around Madun and his motorcycle taken
3. Incitement and Fabrication by BCDC:
We find it alarming that the BCDC, rather than calling for peace, is reinforcing a narrative of Fulani aggression and land-grabbing that feeds ethnic hatred. The references to historical conquest by Usman Danfodio are not only inflammatory but serve no constructive purpose in today’s diverse and constitutional Nigeria.”
The coalition appealed to governments at all levels, security agencies, international community, stakeholders and well-meaning Nigerians to disregard such statements as they are mere fabrications and an attempt to tarnish the image of the Fulani people in Bokkos LGA and is also attempt to incite others against the peace loving fulanis of the local council.
They also called on all ethnic groups in Bokkos to desist from inflammatory statements, reprisals, and unverified accusations.
