President Bola Tinubu on Monday convened a series of high-level meetings at the State House, Abuja, including a session with the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji.
The meeting with Adedeji followed shortly after news of the sealing of the FIRS office in Abuja for allegedly defaulting on ground rent for 25 years by officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
The FIRS criticised the FCTA’s action, describing it as “malicious” and “unprofessional,” sparking a public dispute.
In addition to the FIRS chairman, President Tinubu received the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, and the Minister of Budget and National Development, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.
He also met separately with Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum and the Chief Executive Officer of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), Mark Okoye II.
Okoye recently announced the SEDC’s commitment to drive the South East region towards a $200 billion economy by 2035, aligning with President Tinubu’s broader vision of a $1 trillion Nigerian GDP.
