The Arewa Youth Alliance for Progress and Development (AYAPD) has issued a stern 10-working-day ultimatum to the Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Engr. Sule A. Abdulaziz, demanding his immediate resignation over what it described as gross incompetence and mismanagement.

In a statement signed by the group’s Secretary, James Ishaku on Friday, the AYAPD accused Abdulaziz of failing to address Nigeria’s persistent power grid collapse and of presiding over a transmission system crippled by outdated infrastructure, some of which are reportedly over 50 years old.

The group alleged that Abdulaziz’s leadership has been marked by a lack of vision and accountability, further frustrating efforts under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He warned that failure by the TCN MD to step down within the specified timeframe would lead to a “very massive protest” at the TCN headquarters, aimed at forcing his resignation or dismissal.

As a part of his call to action, the youth group is demanding a full investigation into allegations of mismanagement and has called for Abdulaziz to be barred from any future public appointments until he is cleared of wrongdoing.

They are also pushing for the appointment of a “competent and visionary leader” to head the TCN and address Nigeria’s energy crisis.

“The Arewa Youth Alliance remains committed to advocating for accountability and progress in Nigeria.

“We are urging President Tinubu to act swiftly to restore public trust in the nation’s power sector if he is ready to improve the nation’s economy”, the group said.
