In a landmark moment for the people of Igbooye Kingdom, Epe Local Government, Lagos State, history was made as Oba AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa, Orijeru of Igbooye, was admitted into the Epe Council of Obas and Chiefs.
The investiture marked a new chapter of recognition, unity and leadership within the traditional fold of the Epe Division. It represented a full circle for Oba Musa, who was presented to the council a year earlier as a nominee.
The endorsement laid the foundation for his subsequent installation and the eventual presentation of the staff of office by government.
Council chairman, Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun, the Oloja of Epe, wished Oba Musa a fruitful reign defined by service, impact and cultural revival.
After the investiture, Oba Musa hosted a reception at his palace, where he convened key figures of the Igbooye, including members of the Igbooye Council of Baales and stakeholders. He made new traditional appointments including, Chiefs AbdulBariu Olugbenga Quadri, Olisa; Moruff Oluwadare Salami, Egbo; Rufus Adedipe, Aare; Yinka Oguntimehin, Balogun; Rasaq Sanni, Otun; Oluranti Adebanjo, Eleku; Adegbenro Otunnowo, Oluti; Silifatu Amadasun, Iyalode and Olusola Odusanya-Omotoso, Erelu.
Oba Musa said: “The selection process for the vital positions was deeply rooted in cultural customs and guided by the official declaration of the kingdom. Every ruling house and community quarter was duly considered to ensure inclusive representation.
“There will be future honorary chieftaincy titles for distinguished individuals both indigenes and non-indigenes who demonstrate exceptional moral standing and a commitment to upholding the kingdom’s values.
“This moment is not just about tradition, it is about reawakening the spirit of unity, promoting cultural pride and laying the foundation for a progressive, inclusive Igbooye.”
