The Lagos State government has completed 61 roads, spanning 56.52 kilometres, and five bridges in the past year, demonstrating its focus on infrastructure despite economic challenges.
Special Adviser on Infrastructure Olufemi Daramola announced this during a ministerial press briefing on Monday, marking the second year of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second term.
Daramola said 147 road and bridge projects are ongoing, with 33 roads commissioned since December 2024. The Lagos State Public Works Corporation (PWC) also repaired 1,177 inner roads (78.42 kilometres) and rehabilitated 218 drainage channels (462 kilometres).
For digital infrastructure, the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA) is expanding the state’s fibre optic network.
“With 3,000 kilometers of fibre ducts already laid by Western Telecommunications and Engineering Services (WTES), an additional 2,700 kilometers are planned,” Daramola noted, supported by a $22 million foreign direct investment.
Special Adviser on Works Dr Adekunle Olayinka added that the Multi-Agency Complex, Lagos Revenue House, and reconstructed Ile-Pako (Wooden Block) will be completed by September 2025. The Alausa-based complex features modern facilities, including over 700 parking spaces.
