A culture publication under Big Cabal Media, Zikoko, has launched HER, a compelling new docuseries that brings to the forefront the untold stories of Nigerian women owning their economic power across sectors like tech, beauty and entrepreneurship.

Produced and directed by award-winning journalist, Aisha Salaudeen, HER weaves raw, honest storytelling with intimate visuals to highlight the complexity and strength of Nigerian womanhood.

The first two episodes spotlight Ibukun ‘IBK’ Akinola, co-founder and Payments Director at PiggyVest, and Tara Oluwatomisin, a former professional footballer turned henna artist.

In the first episode, Akinola shares the story of her work leading backend financial operations at one of Africa’s largest fintechs, a team that disbursed over N835 billion to users in 2024 alone.

Tara’s episode will capture her pivot from sports to creative entrepreneurship, navigating Nigeria’s economic challenges, while working with major celebrities like Tiwa Savage.

According to Anita Eboigbe, Executive Producer of the series and COO at Big Cabal Media, ‘HER: The Docuseries,’ is more than representation for women and should be seen as a reframing of the economic power for younger women.

“We want people to see themselves in these women, to feel inspired, affirmed and challenged. This series reflects real-life experiences around gender, class, faith and ambition in a society that often underestimates women’s agency.”

HER is part of Zikoko’s broader shift the story campaign, which aims to reshape narratives around women’s financial independence and autonomy through storytelling.

The series will be launched on Thursday, May 15, on Zikoko’s YouTube channel.
