The people of Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency have lauded their representative in the House of Representatives, Professor Paul Nnamchi, for his visionary approach to human capital development, describing him as “a philosopher-king” and “a man who saw tomorrow.”
In a statement issued by key stakeholders of the constituency, the group praised Nnamchi’s deep commitment to building future leaders through education and empowerment initiatives, noting that his short time in politics has already left a profound impact.
“His background as a scholar and an ex-seminarian uniquely positions him to understand the transformative power of knowledge,” the statement read. “Having risen from humble beginnings to become a globally recognised professor, he is morally compelled to ensure that men and women of integrity drive the development of society.”
Among his standout achievements, the constituents cited the annual Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training program he initiated for senior secondary school students—even before he entered politics. They also highlighted his facilitation of tertiary education scholarships for over 200 indigent students via the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB), a program that enables direct entry into 200-level in Nigerian and select foreign universities.
Onyeka hi Nsukka, head of the constituency’s stakeholder forum, recalled that Nnamchi also procured and distributed school uniforms to underprivileged primary school pupils in the area.
“Still on education and Nnamchi’s realization of the ultimate importance of human capital development,” Onyeka added, “the legislator had since articulated bills which have passed second readings for the establishment of a Federal University of Agriculture in Ako-Nike, Enugu East, and a College of Health Technology in Mbu, Isi-Uzo.”
Other legislative efforts include bills for the upgrade of the Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu, into a University of Education, as well as the establishment of a Skills Acquisition Centre in Ikem, Isi-Uzo, and a Gifted School at Trans-Ekulu, Enugu.
Stakeholders say Nnamchi’s actions exemplify a rare blend of foresight and compassion—one that is steadily laying the foundation for a more educated and empowered constituency.
