The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has commended the Emeka Charles Kalu Foundation for its humanitarian initiatives in Abia State, describing it as a critical for the vulnerable.

In a statement signed by its Deputy President General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Ohanaeze said the foundation’s role in alleviating poverty in Abia North is commendable and also expressed support for Kalu’s potential senatorial bid in the 2027 elections.

Ohanaeze lamented the failure of many politicians, accusing them of abandoning their constituents in the midst of the rising insecurity and economic hardship. It also warned of an impending “ballot box revolution,” where voters would reject underperforming leaders in favor of credible alternatives.

The body praised Kalu for ‘being consistent’ in his efforts in towards providing relief to needy communities and urged him to heed the calls from Abia North residents to contest in 2027. He said: “It is increasingly clear that a “ballot box revolution” is imminent, a historical moment where the aggrieved masses will retire individuals who have demonstrated unproductivity, corruption, and incompetence. The stark choice before the electorate will pit an enraged and disillusioned populace against a cadre of corrupt and dishonest politicians who have failed to uphold their obligations.

“Kalu embodies the essence of the Igbo philosophy encapsulated in the phrase “Onye Ahala Nwanne Ya”—a call to action for community support and solidarity. His unwavering commitment to identifying with his constituents during their most distressing moments, and providing them with support and succor, is a testament to his character.
