Minister of Works, Sen. Dave Umahi, has paid an unscheduled visit to David Umahi Federal Teaching Hospital (DUFUTH) Uburu, Ebonyi State.

The minister disbursed N100,000 to all the patients in the hospital and also paid the hospital bills of some of the patients who were discharged but could not offset their bills.

He equally distributed gift items to the indigents and other patients in the hospital during the visit.

There was wild jubilation among the staff and patients at the hospital on sighting Umahi who arrived at the hospital at about mid-day recently.

He  was received by the staff of the hospital on arrival.

Umahi, who took time to visit all the wards in the hospital, also encouraged and prayed for the patients, assuring them of his preparedness to continue to assist them and ensure that they receive the best medical treatment in the hospital.

He encouraged the patients never to lose faith in themselves and the ability of God to heal them of their different ailments.

He stated that the present administration of President Bola Tinubu was committed to ensuring that medical tourism was  brought to an end. He added that the present administration would ensure that all the medical institutions are well equipped to cater for the health needs of the people.

He urged the people of the South East zone and the country at large to continue to support the administration of President Tinubu who he said has great plans for the region.

One of the beneficiaries, Chief Chukwu Ikpo, an Okada accident victim, described Umahi as a selfless politician, a God-sent to his generation and kindhearted man.

He said the gesture would go a long way in catering for his hospital expenses.

He commended the Minister and assured that the patients, and indeed, all Nigerians are praying for the President who has shown commitment in transforming the country.
