With insight far beyond their years, Nigerian youths led a compelling conversation on ethical journalism, digital responsibility and community resilience at TEDxNTICAbujaYouth on May 10, 2025.

In a passionate presentation, Nafisah Abubakar Aliyu shared how she overcame personal setbacks to become what many now call the “Golden Child” of promise.

Meanwhile, Amina Darma explored how fashion can be both expressive and sustainable. She spotlighted the work of Madam Adeola Muibat, Kaduna’s pioneering designer who “has trained well over 100 young people, and now they all earn money by making clothes for others.”

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris underscored the relevance of the youth-led initiative in the nation’s pursuit of social cohesion.

“It is important for journalists to imbibe media information literacy… to discern between fake news and real news, between misinformation and accurate information,” he said.

On the polarising power of social media, he cautioned: “The social media especially can both be a unifier and also an agent of destruction… We want everyone to use social media especially… as a tool for unifying all of us.”
