Babcock University (BU), Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, has continued its tradition of academic excellence as nine of its law graduates earned First Class Honours in the November 2024 Bar Part II final examination.

A statement by the BU Director of Communication and Public Relations, Dr. Joshua Suleiman, said the bar final examination was conducted by the Nigerian Law School and the results were released by the Council of Legal Education.

According to him, in what is shaping up to be another historic milestone, early indicators suggest that a Babcock graduate may emerge as the third overall best candidate nationwide, further underscoring the institution’s reputation for producing exceptional legal minds.

He explained that this outstanding feat highlights the impact of Babcock University’s rigorous academic training, forward-thinking curriculum and the dedication of faculty members within the School of Law and Security Studies.

The image maker said the university’s track record at the Nigerian Law School spans over a decade of remarkable achievements.

“In 2013, Oladeinbo Gilbert emerged Best student in Law in practice; in 2016, two graduates earned First Class honours, with Adonu Geoffrey named Best overall male student and second best overall candidate.

Suleiman further noted that in 2017, another two graduates achieved First Class; in 2019, 10 graduates earned First Class honours, with Abiru Mayowa emerging as the overall best student and winner of 13 academic prizes; in 2022, six graduates were awarded First Class.

“In 2023, the university recorded its highest-ever performance with 21 first class graduates. That year, Echebiri Mary-Ann Goodness clinched the third prize in civil litigation, and Labisi Oluwatamiloreayo Elizabeth was named third best student in professional ethics.”

He said these continued successes were a reflection of the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and its goal of nurturing legal professionals who will lead with integrity, competence, and courage.

“We are proud of our students and confident they will contribute meaningfully to the legal profession both nationally and globally.”

Suleiman noted that BU remains steadfast in its mission to deliver quality education and produce graduates who stand out in all spheres of life.

“This latest achievement reaffirms the university’s position as one of Nigeria’s leading institutions for legal education,” Suleiman added.
