Super Eagles and Rangers striker, Cyriel Kolawole Dessers, hit a milestone in the Old Firm derby at the Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow Sunday afternoon, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 30-year-old has always been bashed for his inconsistency in front of goal since he joined the club in 2023, but he’s proven the doubters wrong, again, hitting thirty goal contributions in two successive campaigns.
In his first season with The Gers, Dessers scored 22 goals and provided seven assists in 54 games under Philippe Clement. This season, he’s scored 25 goals and provided six assists.
Dessers broke the deadlock just before half-time in the 44th minute, feeding off a pass from Ivorian midfielder, Mohamed Diomande. The Nigerian took the ball in his stride before beating Viljami Sinisalo with a left-footed strike.
Celtic drew level in the 57th minute via a strike from Irish striker, Adam Uche Idah. The 24-year-old forward capitalised on some shabby defending by Rangers to score his 19th goal of the season.
This Old Firm Derby result was simply for pride, as the outcome didn’t change anything about the standings of both teams in the League. Celtic has already been confirmed as Champions, while Rangers stay in second place, 17 points behind the league leaders.
With three games left to play till the end of the SPFL season, Dessers is enjoying his best-ever career spell in front of goal.
