A yet-to-be-identified lady is cooling off in police custody in Delta State over the alleged killing of her one-year-old baby boy.
It was gathered that the lady was apprehended by policemen from Isiokolo, Ethiope-East Local Government Area of the state.
She was said to have severely flogged the baby with a cane, which eventually led to his death, in Kokori community.
In a suspected case of transfer of aggression, the lady reportedly became violent towards her son after his father, an alleged internet fraudster, denied responsibility for her pregnancy.
On the fateful day, the lady was said to have pounced on the baby without any justifiable reason and flogged him mercilessly.
It was gathered that neighbours made an attempt to rescue the boy but he died before he could be rushed to hospital for medical attention.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Delta, SP Bright Edafe has not confirmed the development.
In December, Edafe confirmed the arrest of a nursing mother, Blessing Jonathan for throwing her 10-month-old baby into the river after suffering verbal abuse from neighbours and other ladies who called her baby a bastard.
