Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Osun State, Dr Tosin Odeyemi has declared that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is no more relevant in the state, hence the defection by the members of the party to other political parties.
Odeyemi in a statement made available to our correspondent said Governor Ademola Adeleke is being blindfolded to believing his party, the PDP is still relevant.
Odeyemi said the defection being experienced in Osun PDP is unprecedented, even as he lamented that the current administration in the state has not done enough for the people.
He noted that “it is too early for a ruling party to be witnessing such movement of its members to opposition political parties but it is a good omen for the people of the state as their day of freedom from parochial government is near.”
Recall that many leaders of the PDP including a former Deputy National Chairman (South) of the party, Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, former Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr Peter Babalola, former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Kazeem Adio and a serving member of the House of Representatives, Hon Wole Oke had left the PDP fir APC.
The NNPP Chairman said other political parties are presently harvesting from those leaving PDP, adding that majority of those staying behind will even work against the PDP in the next governorship election.
He said “I was surprised seeing PDP members in the state running helter skelter for endorsement after the defection of Hon. Oluwole Oke, who they once described as a ‘paper weight’ politician.
“Many known PDP foot soldiers in Oriade and Obokun federal constituency are moving out gradually. Otunba Olujobi Ajibola is one of their financiers in the area but surprisingly he resigned recently.
“The fact remains that any party that has the likes of Otunba Olujobi Ajibola as its member has won a grassroot mobilizer.
“I am very sure the arrogance in Osun PDP members will make them ignore these red flags but I am happy to inform you that many of them are in talk with NNPP to join us as the door of our party is opened for people of good virtues who are ready to work with us in order to restore the state’s lost glory,” he added.
