Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has embarked on a diplomatic mission to China to meet with China Geo-Engineering Corporation Overseas Construction (CGCOC) Group officials.

The visit, announced on Thursday, May 1, aims to expedite potable water supply to satellite towns, including Gwagwalada, Kwali, and Kuje Area Councils.

Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media Lere Olayinka stated, “Wike will hold crucial talks to follow up on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed last year.”

The 2024 MoU with CGCOC and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), signed during President Bola Tinubu’s China visit, targets enhanced electricity and water infrastructure in the FCT. Tinubu approved ₦50 billion for these water projects to deliver people-oriented infrastructure, aligning with his Renewed Hope Agenda.

The trip underscores the FCT Administration’s commitment to ensuring reliable water supply for satellite towns. Wike is expected to return next week after concluding discussions critical to completing the Greater Abuja Water Works and related projects.
