A member, representing Isuikwuato/ Umunneochi federal constituency in Abia State, Amaobi Ogah,  has alleged that her main challenger in the election and Minister for Labour, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha presented forged polling unit results during tribunal proceedings in a failed attempt to upturn his victory.

In a petition to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ogah maintained that all the people who applied to the Commission for the copies of the result sheets of the election were availed the same but “surprisingly, in the course of the election petition tribunal proceedings, Onyejeocha procured and presented to the tribunal, a different set of polling booths results in respect of 63 polling units that seemingly have INEC certification on them.”

He further stressed that “these 63 polling units results were entirely different from the authentic results issued and certified by your office.”

He noted that neither the INEC office in Umuahia nor the national headquarters in Abuja was aware of the alleged falsified documents she tendered.

Consequently, Ogah, who got elected into the House on the platform of the Labour Party, is calling on the INEC “to investigate this obvious case of forgery and prosecute the minister and her accomplices.”

In the petition, he put INEC on notice about his intention not only to escalate the demand to the court of public opinion and other relevant agencies of government, but will also seek an order of mandamus against the Commission to enforce his demand if it fails to commence action timeously.
