Kano State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has suspended two Court Registrars and cautioned two Upper Sharia Court judges for judicial misconduct.
Those sanctioned included :a Principal Registrar with the Kano state Sharia Court of Appeal, Lawan Maigida, who was found guilty of demanding and collecting bribe under false pretence; an Upper Sharia Court Judge, Alkali Mansur Ahmed, who was confirmed to have used insulting and abusive language on a litigant and an Upper Sharia Court Judge Alkali Nasiru Ahmed, who was found guilty of ordering the detention of a Judgement debtor in a manner that suggested personal interest and compromised judicial impartiality.
A statement yesterday ,by the Spokesman of the Kano state Judicial court ,Jibo Ibrahim confirmed these developments,while remarking that the sanctions were adopted at the 80th meeting of the state Commission held on April 22,2025, following recommendations of the investigations carried out by the Judiciary Public Complaints Committee.
The Commission also suspended Ibrahim Adamu, who is a Principal Registrar of the High Court six months without salary for verbally assaulting and attempting to use physical force against his superior officer.
Describing Adamu as a second time offender, the Commission said his actions amounted to gross misconduct as well as violating the provisions of the Kano State Civil Service Rules 2004 and the Judicial Service Commission Regulations.
The Commission reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward misconduct and corruption.
