From Aloysius Attah, Onitsha
Okeke Chika-Jerry, the BOOT Party candidate for the November 8 Anambra governorship election, has urged Anambra voters to spark a revolution with their ballots by electing the right leader.
Speaking in Onitsha on Monday, Chika-Jerry criticised career politicians for deceiving Nigerians since the return of civilian rule in 1999, leaving the country plagued by suffering and underdevelopment.
He said the BOOT Party’s manifesto, under its slogan “Because of our Tomorrow”, addresses the true needs of citizens. Chika-Jerry argued that major political parties have failed Nigerians, recycling empty promises while hunger and hardship worsen.
He lamented that Nigeria’s major political parties have let the people down by repeating the same lines during election seasons, yet the situation has remained so dire that the people are now facing hunger.
If elected, Chika-Jerry pledged to prioritise human capital development, aiming to surpass the achievements of past leaders.
“Taking our destinies into our own hands is what we need to do now. Any further delay will be disastrous. The revolution has to start now, using our votes. Arise and shine, Anambra youths. We sincerely need a genuine movement, and it must start now. As a governor, if elected, I will give not less than 70 percent of my time to the poor, youths and children in order to reduce hunger and crime in the state,” he said.
His administration would create at least 10,000 jobs annually, totalling over 40,000 jobs in four years, and provide soft loans to young entrepreneurs, he declared, as he vowed to invest heavily in education and agriculture.
“Let’s throw away politics of bitterness and do or die. Let’s say no to rigging and vote buying. Let the right candidate emerge because of our tomorrow,” he stated.
