Real Madrid midfielder, Fede Valverde has apologised to Real Madrid fans after Saturday’s Copa del Rey final loss to Barcelona.

The Uruguayan’s apology was posted on Instagram on Sunday.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side lost 3-2 towards the tail end of extra time at Estadio de La Cartuja courtesy of a Jules Koundé strike.

“It happened again. And it will surely happen again many more times, because it is the road we are building and it is normal that one falls after so many miles,” Valverde said.

“It makes me sad, it makes me angry, impotent. I feel like I failed you,” the 26-year-old added.

Valverde acknowledged the challenges that has confronted Real Madrid in the 2024-2025 season.

“It’s been a difficult year, physically and mentally very tough, but one day I was clear: ‘until my legs don’t give up anymore’. This club doesn’t deserve less,” he said.

He promised to rededicate himself to the club.

“We’ll be back, we’ll continue and there I’ll be leaving everything for the respect Madrid deserves, its people and everything that involves playing in the most winning team in history,” Valverde stated.
